Walkwise New Year in Grasmere 29/12/08
“This was a fantastic event. The combination of activities and social time was excellent. The lakes were at their best, the weather was great and the walk leaders helpful, well informed and good fun. The hotel was good, lots of excellent food and the accommodation clean and warm. I would recommend this break to anyone who likes to keep active as well as have a lively social time.”

“The cavern was a winter wonderland with lots of candles in the crevices and a beautiful decorated and lit Christmas tree. We also had Father Christmas arrive with presents for the children. A wonderful afternoon to really get us into the Christmas spirit.”

I was really nervous about it before I went but felt a great sense of achievement having done it. I definitely would try one of the other caving events having done this one.”

“Excellent beginners mountain biking suitable for an absolute beginner who has a little bit of fitness. People should note this is mountain biking and not a cycle amble and should expect some slightly rough/muddy terrain. Iain was excellent as ever and extremely supportive throughout the event offering tips for better cycling along the way.”
Guitar Lesson 8/11/08
“Enjoyed the whole session, the time just flew by. As there was only a small group, three of us, I think we were lucky we could get the attention we needed. Definitely thinking about booking lessons in the New Year, although I think I may be a slow learner! The instructor (Sats) was very friendly and helpful and made things easy to understand for the absolute beginner! Only tips is for the ladies (or maybe some men too) cut your nails beforehand (as short as you dare!) as it will make it a lot easier to get the chords. For anybody who has ever thought about trying, give it a go!”

“We had a fantastic weekend on the narrow boat. I have been trying to find life's brake pedal for ages & this is the only real way (at 4 mph) to slow life down to approx the speed of an express tortoise!! Everybody bonded together to make drinks & sandwiches & then changed their apron for a lock key & jumped off the boat to operate the lock's & help with the driving. Even a little bit of rain on the last day couldn't dampen anybody's spirits. Can't wait for next spring & another chance to slow my life down for a few days.”

Mongolian Yurt Weekend 10/10/08
“The whole weekend was excellent. A total experience! The company was good and the venue was really beautiful. I particularly enjoyed walking on Saturday and take-away and drinks Saturday night. Great trip for anyone who likes outdoor living and doesn’t mind sharing! The yurts are warm and cosy and Rydal Hall is accessible to spectacular countryside and scenery. There are also small towns and Lake Windemere close by. Plenty to do for all abilities”
“The Yurts were wonderful, very warm and cosy, and the 7.5 mile walk from Ambleside to Grassmere and back to Rydal was brilliant. Sitting round the open fire outside on Saturday night drinking mulled wine singing and playing games was great fun.”

“The whole day was superb but the favourite bit had to be the satisfaction at the end of the day looking at what the group had achieved and the obvious improvement in the wall from when we arrived. This is a truly fantastic day out in spectacular surroundings. Trevor is clearly an expert in his field and an entertaining instructor. The day literally flies past and you hardly notice the physical effort involved. At the end of the day knowing that you have repaid James' the farmers kind hospitality by rebuilding a stretch of his wall and not just practiced on something that will be knocked down on the next training course is fantastic.”

“Liked the format. The randomness of the questions, as well as having to choose our 'bonus' questions blind made for a good evening out. It also made the whole quiz a little fairer, as it tested knowledge, not how lucky you are in a certain round. The fact we won probably helped!!”

“My first biking day, I thoroughly enjoyed it, although it was tough in parts, especially in the afternoon, legs not used to pedalling for 15 miles! I took my own bike which is quite old and whereas it is ideal for riding up and down the Trans Pennine Trail which IS flat, it was not really suitable for covering this kind of distance and terrain. I would recommend hiring a bike if this is something new for people. I will next time unless I buy myself a new one!”
“This was an excellent day. Adrian made sure everyone was ok. Unfortunately, he could do nothing to stop me receiving 22 midge bites. Advice for members - if you are prone to being bitten, you are close to water so use mosquito repellent or similar if you don't want to end up looking like a Dalmation as I did! Excellent day overall.”

It was good to know that should you have misjudged the time needed for the long drive, or got lost for example that you could contact the leader or that instructions had been left for you to help you catch up with the others. It's a long way to drive if you miss everyone!”

“I would have loved Sir Richard to show us around his home too. I know he does tours of the house. It would be great to do the tour of the village and grounds in the morning, have lunch and then a tour of the house in the afternoon. I was left wanting more!!!
