I'm not sure whether it was the company, my team mate, me being totally useless or a culmination of all that made this a great social evening. Surprisingly everyone coped with me being girly and moaning about breaking a nail so thanks to all who attended for making this a great night out.”

“Being fairly new to Spice, this was the first weekend away I've been on. I have to admit that I did feel a little overwhelmed on the Friday evening as it would seem that Friday was 'reunion' night and I did feel a bit out of it. However, I look forward to the time when I will be in the thick of it once I know more people. I have to say that I was nicely surprised by the way in which so many of us were catered for so well at meal times in such a basic kitchen. Thanks for looking after us all so well - I don't think anyone went hungry and the standard of the meals was very good.”

“This was the last of the 2009 cheap weekends away, and just like all the previous weekends was great fun and value for money. Our luck with the English weather had to come to an end sooner or later, and I am just glad it wasn't one of the camping weekends ! Nevertheless, I will be looking forward to booking next year.”

“This event was one of the best that I have been on - a great venue, friendly people, fantastic food and outstanding value for money - can't wait to do it all again next year!”

“A great way for 'newcomers' to find their feet - there's always going to be someone around to talk to and enough people to give plenty of choice for things to do during the day. If anyone is hesitating on whether to book or not thinking they don't know anyone, don't, just go ahead and do it. You'll never know until you've tried!”

“I really enjoyed the weekend. Mike was really good, ensuring that everyone had a go at the various aspects of sailing, looking after us in every way possible. Skipton Narrowboat Day 23/8/09

“Meandering along the canal in the company of a mixed and varied group of people is a great way to spend a Sunday. An excellent event which really does do what it says on the tin. You spend the first half of the day getting nowhere fast, then you spend the second half going back to where you started. With time for a drink and lunch it's a great way to slow your life down to walking pace.”

Spice National Murder Mystery Weekend 14/8/09

“Venue was excellent including the food, setting and facilities great -  not sure you could top this. Great weekend -  relaxed but entertaining. The 80's disco was very good as well. Definitely better if people know a character and can make efforts to bring a costume as this definitely adds to the atmosphere. The only difficult part at the end is getting a team of 12 to agree on one person as the murderer!”

“Brilliant weekend at a lovely hotel, loved playing a character and being able to be vain & bitchy (in character of course) really enjoyed trying to work out who the murderer was even though we failed abysmally. Would definitely recommend it and look forward to next year”

Beginners Mountain Bike Course 9/8/09

“The course level was excellent for complete beginner to experienced cyclist wanting to learn specific mountain biking techniques. I was always at the back of the group but the instructor was brilliant, never left me behind and was very patient. I wasn't forced to try anything I didn't feel comfortable having a go at, and I was allowed to practise the easier techniques if I didn't want to progress to the harder level. I really enjoyed the day. It may need to be noted that this is not a cycle ride out, it's a course to teach riding techniques. Some attendees were expecting more constant cycling than the course allowed.”

Vocal Virgins 9/8/09

“Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't think of anything to improve. Don't be nervous about attending as Mathew was very good at putting the group at ease and made it a fun and enjoyable afternoon. I went with the aim of feeling more confident to sing hymns at church and can honestly say I sang my heart out the week after this event and felt great about it. Why not take Mathew up on his idea of setting up a Yorkshire choir that Spice members could join in with.”

“Vocal Virgins was an excellent Sunday afternoon. He said that he would like to join together the Manchester group and this Yorkshire group to make one big Northern Choir as we are both at the same stage. Is there a possibility we can have the 2nd lesson combined with Manchester at a convenient point - say Huddersfield or Halifax?”

“Had absolutely no idea what to expect it was a truly great afternoon where I learned to sing!”

“The ski trip was fantastic and I would definitely do a Yorkshire one again. It was a great sized group and everyone got to know each other. The resort was great and my skiing really improved. (thanks to Sandra's suggestion to try blades) :-) The only downside, was the hotel decor. It's a bit worn and needs a lick of paint. Our room also had no door to the tiny shower room, which was bazaar! But on the plus side the staff were great and the ski hire shop was the best I have ever come across. My boots fitted perfectly! All in all a brilliant holiday!”

I flew us round York controlling our speed and elevation. Fantastic. Not to be missed. Or you could just sit back and enjoy the view and snap some photos. Big thanks to Phil and Kati on the ground.”

“How much fun is it to be tearing around the bridleways being pulled along by two dogs that could give Cerberus the hell hound of Hades a run for its money!!! Absolutely first-class adrenaline pumping action. I would stress the fact that a reasonable to good level of fitness is required for this event, and that it is not simply a 'walk in the park'. Perhaps grading of such events in a manner similar to the rambles may assist in people’s decision making when booking the events.”
